From the Principal

We were watching Seven Sharp on TVNZ with interest this week for an interesting item about schools losing their libraries. We are grateful to have a thriving library in our school, and it is a place universally loved by students, teachers and families.

Our library helps our students foster a love of reading. It is a place which many of our students would call their ‘happy place’ at lunchtime. Our teachers NEVER miss a library session because they love it as much as their children! Not to mention that we have the best librarian in New Zealand, if not the WORLD!

Because reading is the basic skill for all subjects, if children don’t have the motivation to read, they will struggle to study other subjects, so cultivating the desire to read nourishes individual interests. We believe very strongly in our school about the fundamental value of reading!

Parking Issues

We have received some emails and phone calls recently from frustrated members of our school community about parking and driving behaviour which is causing danger to residents. We totally sympathise with our neighbours and share their frustrations.

You are NEVER legally allowed to stop your vehicle on yellow lines- even for the shortest time- it is against the law, and it is dangerous!
You are NEVER legally allowed to stop or park your vehicle across neighbours’ driveways- house owners should be able to enter/exit their properties freely at all times.
You are NEVER allowed to pull into driveways to drop off your children- even if the house belongs to your friend! Imagine if everyone did this on Loloma- it would be chaos!
You should NEVER tell your child to get out of your car when you are sitting in a queue of traffic- it is VERY dangerous, and you are putting your child at risk!

We provide instructions to anyone making a complaint about how to report concerns and complaints to Auckland Transport. We support them in logging their complaints, because we share their concerns about the issues endangering our children and community.
