From the Acting Principal

Kia ora koutou, Hello everyone,

These past couple of weeks have provided solid learning time.

In this newsletter, we showcase our recent sporting achievements, highlight opportunities to contribute to our community, invite feedback from today’s Classroom Hour, and request Learning at Home photos that demonstrate our Learner Profile Capabilities in action.

Perspective Pioneer – I am a Collaborator // Wordsmith Voyager – I am a Communicator

Sports Season

We are incredibly proud of how our students have represented our school across various sports in the past two weeks. Our achievements include:

  • The mixed Year 5 and Year 6 soccer teams competing at Meadowlands,
  • The girls’ soccer teams participating at William Green, and
  • Four chess teams competing at an interschool competition.

Special congratulations to our Chess Team A for achieving second place overall.

Participation in these sports requires our students to demonstrate several learner profile capabilities. I have selected ‘Collaborator’ and ‘Communicator’ because these capabilities allow students to effectively showcase their teamwork skills.

Contribution Captains – I am a Contributor

We have some wonderful opportunities to contribute to the wider community at PMPS this month.

Salvation Army

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Salvation Army drive last Friday.

Jammies in June

The Jammies in June collection, organised by our student Wellbeing Leaders, will continue until the final day of term. We appreciate your support in advance.

School Book Fair

Monday 24 June – Tuesday 2 July

Our Book Fair starts next week! There will be a number of book-related activities happening in class and in the library, culminating in the Book Character Parade on Monday, 1st July.

Pigeon Mountain Primary School prides itself on fostering the love of reading. The school library is well-stocked with an amazing variety of books, but every year we aim to add more new books to refresh our collection. Last year, the Book Fair raised over $3,000 to buy new books. If you can’t make it to the Fair in person, please consider supporting us through the Scholastic flyer that will be sent home with your child. Your contributions help enrich our students’ reading experience.

Thank you for your support!

Classroom Open Hour – Survey

Thank you to everyone who attended this morning’s Open Classroom event. We hope it provided you with a positive experience and valuable insights into your child’s learning environment.

Whether you were able to attend or not, we kindly request all parents and guardians to complete this anonymous survey. Your feedback will be invaluable for planning similar events in the future.

Be On Time, Every Time: School Starts at 8:50am!

Punctuality is a key ingredient to academic success. Arriving on time not only sets a positive tone for the day but also maximizes your child’s learning opportunities. The school day kicks off with the 8:50 am bell, and it’s crucial for all students to be on site, ready to dive into their educational journey. Let’s seize every moment, set your alarm a little earlier, and make each day count!

Reminder: Entering the School Grounds

If you are entering our site during the school day, please ensure you sign in at the school office. It is crucial that we know and can account for all individuals on the premises. Thank you for your support!

Safety and Supervision at the end of the school day

The health and safety of our students underpins all decisions made at Pigeon Mountain School and it is essential that we work together to ensure that as a team we keep our students safe at the end of the school day.

Please take a moment to read the important information below regarding the safety and supervision of students at the end of the school day. Your cooperation and understanding in adhering to these guidelines is appreciated.

Together, we can maintain a safe and supportive environment for all our students.
