From the Principal
We spend a great deal of time during Term 4 reviewing the previous year and how we can build on our strengths. This year is no different. We have already begun reviewing our budget for 2020, our staffing resources, our curriculum and our strategic goals.
It is with this in mind that the board have made the decision to hold the school donation at $230 for next year. Whilst there have been some highly publicised changes to how schools are funded, we are not entitled to participate in the scheme offering an additional $150 to Decile 1-7 schools who opt out of donations. As a result, we still rely on the generosity of parents’ donations to operate our school. However, we would like to point out that these donations are completely voluntary, payment cannot be enforced, and that any payments can be spread throughout the year.
World Teachers’ Day was recognised on Friday 25th October, and I would like to write a few words to express my gratitude to the incredible teachers of Pigeon Mountain Primary School. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and hard working group of professionals working with our students, frequently going above and beyond for our community. At times, the life of a teacher can be extremely challenging, and the demands they face in their daily work are becoming ever more diverse. I feel very proud and grateful to be principal of a school with teachers who embody the profession so wonderfully.
